A Blast from the Past

Decorative flower tray I made for my mom.

Salt-glazed stoneware, reminiscent of Early America

3-piece weaved bathroom set

These are a few ceramic pieces I made in a ceramics class I took, during my senior year at Austin College (Spring 2006).  It was a difficult time for me, and I remember spending long nights in the ceramics lab to clear my head and nurture my spirit.  I will always remember the constructive (and at times brutal) criticism of my instructor, Mark Monroe.  If he hated someone's artwork, he would tell you he hates it.  BUT if he loved it, he would tell you he LOVES it~ and that always felt awesome!  Thank you for always pushing me to take my ideas a step further, appreciating my esthetic (and OCD-ness), and for encouraging me to continue to develop my creative aspirations.  I haven't really sunk my hands into clay since the class, but hope to do so again in the future!

Here are a couple of drawings I did in an introductory art class I took, also during my senior year of college.  Nothing too impressive, but enjoyed experimenting with the lights and darks!
